Overview
The National Migration Directorate created the category in May 2022 (Disposition DNM 758/2022, under article 24(h) of Law 25,871) for foreigners who enter to provide remote services — by IT, telecommunications or similar means — to individuals or companies domiciled abroad. It is “only enabled for foreigners from countries that do not require a visa to enter as tourists”.
The official procedure page describes it as a semi-in-person process that is not filed through the RaDEX system: in Buenos Aires City you write to the Directorate's advice desk to arrange it, elsewhere you go to your local migration office. You must be inside Argentina when you apply.
Editor's note — There is no published income minimum. What the Directorate wants is proof of the activity — contract, company letter or invoices — a short CV and at least one professional reference. Guides quoting US$2,000–2,500 a month are describing practice, not a rule.
Who is eligible
- National of a country whose citizens do not need a tourist visa for Argentina.
- Provides remote services to persons or companies domiciled abroad.
- Valid passport (or MERCOSUR travel document) and proof of regular entry.
- Signed application describing the work, a brief CV and at least one work-related reference.
- Criminal-record certificate for applicants aged 16 and over (Argentine certificate for the extension), and proof of address in Argentina.

The Directorate asks for proof of the activity, not a figure.

Rather than a threshold, the Directorate asks for “documentation proving the activity carried out (contract, company endorsement or job demand, certifications or receipts of income/fees) and at least one reference related to the occupation”. For the extension you must also show income received from the remote services during the first period.
Fees are expressed in UMSM (migration-service units): for extra-MERCOSUR nationals, 32 UMSM for the transitory residence and 40 UMSM for the extension (16 and 20 UMSM for MERCOSUR nationals), with 1 UMSM currently ARS 1,000 — check the fee table (cuadro de tasas) on the day you pay.
Costs & fees
- Migration fee of 32 UMSM (≈ ARS 32,000) for extra-MERCOSUR applicants, 16 UMSM for MERCOSUR nationals.
- Extension: 40 UMSM (extra-MERCOSUR) or 20 UMSM (MERCOSUR).
- Optional preferential appointment for an additional fee.
- Apostille or Argentine consular legalisation, and Spanish translation by a sworn public translator legalised by the translators' association.
Taxes
Staying under 183 days generally keeps you a non-resident for Argentine tax purposes, taxed only on Argentine-source income. Residents are taxed on worldwide income at rates up to 35%. Argentina's exchange-rate rules have changed repeatedly in recent years, so check the current rules for bringing money in with a local adviser.

Only nationals who need no tourist visa qualify; keep proof of your regular entry.
Request the procedure
In Buenos Aires City write to asesoramiento@migraciones.gov.ar; elsewhere go to the migration office for your area. It is not filed through RaDEX.
Present the documents
Passport, Argentine criminal-record certificate (16+), proof of address, signed application with a short CV, proof of the remote activity and one reference.
Extend if needed
Once only, for another 180 days: proof of income from the first period and at least 50% of the period spent in Argentina.
Duration & renewal
Up to 180 days, extendable once for the same period — a year in total. The category is transitory and does not lead to temporary or permanent residence.
Bringing family
The residence is individual; accompanying family members apply for their own transitory residences or enter as tourists.
